Nothing’s quite what you’d expect in the deep, dark woods. Little Red Riding Hood is no longer little, she no longer wears a hood and she wants to be called by her real name. She’s questioning everything. And so are Mother, the Woodcutter and even the Wolf!

A playful and mischievous retelling of the familiar fairy tale, with original songs and signature Roustabout silliness, that dares you to step off the path and write your own story.

What would you do if you could?

Suitable for everyone aged 4+

Workshops

Unlock your creativity with Roustabout Theatre’s one hour workshop designed for ages 5-10.

Join us for an inspiring hour where curiosity leads the way, and every “what if?” opens new doors!

This exciting session invites children to break free from the ordinary and explore bold new ideas. Through interactive theatre games and creative storytelling, participants will challenge traditional expectations and reimagine the stories they’ve always been told. They’ll dig deeper into assumptions, question the ‘why?’ behind predictable paths, and dream up fresh possibilities for themselves and the world around them.

Developing the show

The show was developed in close collaboration with Y1 and Y2 children in Stockton-on-Tees and Barnsley.

Their voices, opinions and questions helped to shape the narrative, and contribute directly to character development, script and song lyrics, helping us to create a show that is universally appealing to family audiences, and guaranteed to spark some important conversations.
